About Showthesources
Showthesources is a fact-checking service that lives where questionable content lives — in Instagram and Telegram direct messages. Send it a post, a reel, or a link; it reads the material, checks the factual claims inside, and answers with a verdict and the public sources behind it.
Every check is kept in a personal archive you can search later, from either messenger.
Independent by design
The service is paid for by the people who use it. There is no advertising, no sponsor, and no sale of data — and a verdict cannot be bought: no third party can order one, or order one changed.
The analysis runs on third-party models — Anthropic Claude and Google Gemini — used as components inside our own pipeline. Showthesources is independent of these providers and of the platforms it works on.
What it is not
It does not detect deepfakes or AI-generated media: it checks what a material claims, not how the file was made. A verdict is a statement about content, never about the person who posted or shared it. And it is an automated assistant, not a newsroom: answers can be incomplete or wrong, and are not legal, medical, or financial advice. Who runs it
